Jennifer Lawler is the author or coauthor of more than thirty nonfiction books, including her popular and award-winning Dojo Wisdom series (Penguin). She has written more than a dozen romance and romantic suspense novels under three pen names. She has also worked as a literary agent and a book acquisitions editor.

These days, she spends a lot of time working as a book development editor. What she’s learned from this experience is at the heart of Be Your Own Book Doctor: finding the best way possible to tell your story.

She earned her Ph.D in medieval English literature from the University of Kansas and a black belt in Taekwondo at approximately the same time. She has not quite decided which has been more useful.
